Chris was home with me today which was a special treat! Last night we got about 5-6 inches of snow and while the roads cleared off late morning, they weren't so great when he would have normally left for work. It was a nice surprise to have him here and on top of that, I couldn't believe it actually snowed again. Yes, I still love snow but after the 60 degree temps we had at the end of last week, I was thinking Spring was surely right around the corner. I suppose it still is......somewhere under all the white stuff. :)
Country Breeze Farm Market had Florida Strawberries in last week for the first and of course I couldn't resist getting some. I thought I'd try my hand at a Strawberry Pie since that's one of my all time favorite desserts. Needless to say the recipe I used from AllRecipes (which had good reviews) didn't turn out so great for me. It was more soupy than I think it was to be so I ended up freezing it and eating as a frozen treat. :) Anyways, yesterday I got more strawberries and tried attempt #2 today. Different recipe, with Jello this time. SO much better! I don't have any pictures because I was too lazy to take any but maybe I'll get a few before it's gone and post some later.
This afternoon Chris and I decided to try our hand at Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls. It seems like the first time trying any recipe it's a huge learning experience and this was no exception!! While they turned out okay and are edible, I think my yeast was "old". I checked the date and it still had another month left before it's suggested use time but I guess they lied. So the taste is good, but the texture not so light and fluffy. Oh well -- better luck next time I guess.
